Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu, is the political, economic and cultural centre of the province. Situated on the south bank of lower reaches of the mighty Changjiang River and surrounded by the Purple and Gold Mountains, the city commands a majestic view. It was compared by ancient Chinese people to a "dragon curling".

Built 2,400 years ago, Nanjing is the old capital of China, the capital of eight dynasties, the Wu, Eastern Jin, Song, Qi, Liang, Chen, Later Tang dynasties and the early Ming dynasty. Nanjing was made the capital of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom for 11 years during the peasant revolutionary movement which broke out in 1851.

It has many beautiful scenes. Click here, you will see it. It has many renowned universities and research institutes. It also has a broad industry base. Shanghai is only two and a half hours away by freeway. Nanjing also has daily flights to other major cities in China and is a major port along the Yangtze River. The population of nanjing is close to five million.
